I believe in freedom. I am also an artist but am terrible at marketing or selling stuff so I don’t think opening a shop or my own business would be a good idea. I study medicine but can’t handle stress so wouldn’t want to work as a fulltime doctor. I don’t have a consumerist mentality but I like to live comfortably. So basically making enough money to live a normal comfortable life would be great. Any ideas?

You're going to have to learn to compromise and / or cope. None of us wants to be at a 9-5, 5 days a week. None of us wants to have to sell ourselves. You do what you have to do to exist in this world.

I believe those who choose to not do what is necessary chooses not to live life. Life is not fair, nor comfortable, life is pain. You deal with it while you look for things that are better, for yourself or others.

So you need a job that you don't really have to work, but want a comfortable life. You need a sugar momma.

You want a comfortable life without working 9-5 and without stress and you don’t want to run a business so you can’t be your own boss. Let me know what you find I’d like to do that too!

honestly i was in a similar mindset where i wanted something outside a normal 9–5 that didn’t depend on marketing myself or trying to sell people on my work. what actually ended up working for me was amazon to ebay dropshipping. i just list products from amazon on ebay with a markup, and when someone buys, i order it from amazon straight to their address. no clients, no personal brand, no having to “sell yourself,” which is why it suited me way more than trying to run a shop. being fully honest, i’m making around 4k a month from it right now, and it’s been the most consistent thing i’ve found for comfortable extra income. it’s not instant and it can be repetitive, but it’s straightforward and fully online. i made a short guide here too if you want to check it out amazon to ebay guide i also made a doc with more info on the business if you want it, happy to send it over.

Nobody wants to work 9-5, but everybody likes the 9-5 paycheck. You learn the way of copium. Like, yeah, I am also an artist. I like that aspect of my life a lot more than being a doctor. But being a doctor is what allows me a comfortable lifestyle and hopefully early retirement so I can be an artist to my heart's content.

Spend 10-20 years at a 9-5 investing 50-70% of your income to build up a large nest egg. If done properly this money can carry you through all the 'freedom' you want. Look up FIRE investing. There's no cute side gig that's going to support you as a just for funsies artist.

If your art is good enough that people buy it, or if you're working towards that, you get a website and sell part time while you do something else for money. If you're studying medicine and can't handle stress, you should take a look at research (risky these days) or pathology, Or get a medical tech certificate--I have a friend that started out an xray tech, kept getting certs and now is a cardiac cath tech making good money with decent time off.

Unless you've got assets that yield adequate passive income, you gotta get a job. Learn to do something people will pay you to do.

It's a terrible design. 99% of jobs don't even work that entire time much of it is because they have to pay market price and expectation otherwise nobody can pay rent. They did a hell of a job brainwashing people to love the system but most don't know that we used to have zero income tax and relied on tariffs for public money. I'd rather go back to that do that we have more money and less reliant on needing to be slaves

Can't do all those at once, bud You either need to learn a skill relevant to your hobby you can monetize and then promote relentlessly, or just swallow your pride and get whatever 9-5 you can tolerate I run my own business, a niche music industry thing, and I enjoy it, but it can be hard work, has no guarantees, and I am a 1 man band, as far as everything that involves running the business goes But it affords me the flexibility to go to sleep and wake up whenever I want, and I can pack up and move basically anywhere any time, and just keep doing it, and nobody cares, as long as I pay taxes to the relevant authorities But it took a long time and a lot of struggle to get there There are no shortcuts to financial freedom or fulfilling careers

Mike Rowe once said, 'Do what you're good at, NOT what your passionate about.' Just because you're passionate about something doesn't mean your good at it.

There are more ways to earn beyond a 9-5 than most people realize: ✅ Freelancing — sell skills directly to clients ✅ Content creation — build audience then monetize ✅ Consulting — get paid for what you already know ✅ Digital products — create once sell forever ✅ Affiliate marketing — earn commissions recommending products you trust Affiliate marketing is genuinely one of the best starts for beginners. No product to create. No inventory. No customer service. Just valuable content plus trusted recommendations plus consistency. The barrier to entry is low. The ceiling is surprisingly high.

I have a 9to5 @ 200k and a 5 to 9 @ 300k in consulting + real estate investments. My doctor friends all do the same thing... Focus on their 9 to 5, buy short term rentals, do cost segregation study, get a $30-$100k write off against your W2 income, repeat. Some do it multiple times a year and pay 0% tax. As long as you hire a manager for the properties and can at least break even you'll be fine. Follow the tax code, it's right there for everyone to read. If the tax code wants you to be an investor, be an investor. Learn to play the game. Love the big beautiful bill (politics aside, learn to read between the lines of legislation). Or don't, pay lots of taxes, have nothing left and compromise and complain.

Tutoring med school prerequisites online is low stress. I do that and also make beaded bookmarks. Got beads from Alibaba after a sample order. Sell a few to classmates.

This will blow over most heads but the easiest way to make money other then 9-5 is creating more 9-5 for other people
